The Essence of Coaching

Out there you can find all kinds of titles: career coach, life coach, business coach, executive coach, leadership, relationship, family, grief, addiction… the list goes on and on.
Today, a client asked me: “So what kind of coaching do you actually do?” He was pleasantly surprised when I told him: “I do coaching.”
Here’s what I mean: If you want to talk about your career, the session becomes career coaching. If you want to talk about life, it becomes life coaching. If you want to talk about personal development, well, that’s where we go.
A real professional coach doesn’t need to have lived your exact situation. Why? Because coaching is not about giving advice, plans, or recipes. It’s about helping you discover what’s already inside you — what matters, what you want, and what difference that can make in your life.
I don’t walk into a session with a fixed plan. I meet you where you are, with curiosity, presence, and a focus on creating a safe space for your thoughts to flow. Think of me as a thinking partner — or sometimes even a co-pilot. The real journey is yours.
Yes, I wear hats like career coaching, life coaching, personal development and more. But the main hat I always wear — the one that matters most — is simply this: Coach.
